Guest Post from Jay Vasdewani, My Programmer

Jay and his team are the programmers behind my WP Amaz-One plugin.  When Mike Kotzakolios (Big Mike from Incansoft) convinced me to take all projects from Jay so that he could work on them, I am embarrassed to say that I did just that. Mike convinced me that Jay was only out to take my money. I still can not believe that I was so gullible, but I trusted Mike. I have since humbly apologized to Jay for the disrespectful way in which he was treated. And Jay, in an almost unbelievable way, has wiped the slate completely clean. We are now very successfully working on many projects and I have every reason to believe that ours will continue to be a long and prosperous relationship.  Here is what Jay has to say about his treatment from Mike:

I am Lisa’s original programmer. We started to work on PayMe plugin in January. Everything was going fine until Big “Ego” Mike came into picture. Lisa had mentioned that he will contact me and he is going to manage PayMe Plugin from now on. So I get an email from him, First email is very nice.
This is the first email on 17th Feb
“Hello Jay,
As Lisa indicated, I’m going to be managing these projects – I’ve reviewed PayMe (the last build you sent to Lisa) and as I understand it there is a list of a few items to complete.
If you would, please send me a list of those items, the number of man-hours you’re estimating to complete them and your target completion date. I will also need the details of how the system works after the plugin is installed, i.e.; how it’s set up and called from a sales page, an affiliate signup page etc., any specifications you have put together and any other documentation that will help me to understand the project.”
I respond and send him latest plugin etc and just brief him what is remaining.
This is next email on same day (so far so good)

“Hi Jay,
Excellent – can you send me the info on how to deploy this to a sales page/affiliate signup, etc.? On a separate note, I’d like to ask if your resources can support more than one project at a time? I’ve got a number of projects pending that I’d love to turn over to you (separate from what you’re doing with Lisa). “
John and Lisa are anxious to get this wrapped up ASAP – we will do the testing, assuming your people have already tested the core functionality of it yourself.
I’m looking forward to working with you – between Lisa and I, we’ve got a lot of work for your topnotch team. “

He clearly had no idea about the plugin, and he had no clue about wordpress. Clearly he took idea from Lisa and developed his own.
Next day i.e 18th Feb he sends me this email
****************************
“Hi Jay,
Just touching base to see what progress was made from yesterday – please give me the specifics on what was done and advise on your estimate of 3 to 5 days to completion.
I have installed the plugin and I understand how the admin side works. What I’m asking you is how a user would integrate it with a sales page or an affiliate signup page. That is not clear from the plugin – I would appreciate a better answer than you gave me yesterday. “

Again he has no clue how plugin works etc. I had an issue with my coder. He met with an accident. So I had no update for him for that day. But still promised him in 3 to 5 days. Here is my response

“Hi Mike,
When you create product it will give you a link to your product page
For example, I created product and it gave me this link
Now thats your product page.
On that page there is message to register as affiliate and it goes to this page
Thats affiliate sign up page
Actually the programmer that is working on PayMe met with an accident, nothing serious, but he will be available next wednesday. I have be assigning my stand by programmer to finish up reporting by coming Friday.”

Now you will see Real Mike

Hi Jay, Next Friday is too late – we must have this no later than Monday EST. Look, Lisa and John feel you keep putting them off and I’m already feeling this way with this convenient accident. My role here is to get this project finished now and not keep pushing the completion date back. If you cannot assure me that this will be done, then I’ll pull in another programmer to finish it for us. You’re not leaving us any choice here Jay – and you’d be shooting yourself in the foot on a lot of very profitable future work if you can’t come through for us.

I’ve got right around 30 years of professional development experience and have worked on or managed multimillion dollar projects for every major company in the US. I know what I’m doing – I won’t accept being put off like this. You’ve had months to complete it and missed every deadline – now is the time to finish it, whether your team has to work through the weekend or not.

Please believe me when I say I do not want to be so pushy, but you and I both know what’s going on here. I would hate to lose you as a resource over delays, just given the sheer volume of work I can provide you with.

****************************
well he creates his own deadline of Monday. I had mentioned 3 to 5 days. and  I had a laugh when he said he managed multimillion dollar projects for every major company in the USA, Dude if you were managing multimillion dollar projects why are you wasting your time managing small projects right now.
Here was my honest reply
*********************************

I told you facts, I did not lie.

We have not been doing this for months for your information. You have no idea how much I have pushed this one and also provide non stop customer service for amazon plugin.
If there is no trust. I am sorry to we can’t go any further than this.
I am telling you facts. You guys have not even tested the system and you want to launch it.
Do you even know when we started with this project? How can you say we had months ?? and missed every deadline. I do not have resource right now that will work through the weekend. Its upto you what you want to do. I told you facts and you blamed me about lying it. We can only start on Monday and finish it by Friday.

Here was his another laughable and shocking reply involving Indian Government (LOL)
*************************************
Alright Jay, if you can’t complete the project then Lisa and John will have to decide what to do – my comments are based on information provided to me by them. Your failure to complete the project by the agreed upon deadline, which is a work made for hire, means you will most likely not be paid for your work to date. That will be my recommendation to Lisa and John. I happen to know that your government is cracking down on IT companies failing to deliver to foreign companies and giving a bad name to the Indian IT community. I am also recommending contacting an attorney in Phulchhab Chowk to file an injunction against your company to cease and desist all competing WP plugin work, which may be based on ideas, project discussions and other communication between yourself and Lisa and John for a period of 2 years.I guess I was wrong about you and your company, but I am glad to find that out now, rather than later. You are lying Jay, and you and I both know it – you’re working on more projects than you can handle, and you’re just blowing off Lisa. Additionally, your estimated man-hours were grossly inflated – . I have advised Lisa and John of this as well. If you guys actually took that long to do the job, considering how much of RAP you ripped off, you must be brand new programmers or unbelievably bad ones.

You will be hearing from us and our legal representative – unlike John and Lisa I have the resources to pursue this indefinitely.

Mike

Here is talking all the non sense about injunction, and our government cracking down on IT companies LOL, I mean does that guy think every other guy is stupid?  Guess what never heard from him after that. And as we saw above he has no clue about wordpress plugin and he is saying we ripped off the code etc. First I was angry and wanted to respond. But then I thought this guy has no clue and I thanked God that I won’t be working with him again in future. Here was my final reply. I never heard from him after that. I did get a call and number was from Greece. But I missed that call. LOL
Here is my response
*********************************************
You make me laugh.

I lived in USA for 6 years. I know all about laws there. I wouldn’t have cared much if I was not paid for the hours we worked on this project.  But now you are talking about injuction and things like that, that cracks me up. You don’t even know what all me and Lisa discussed, You just came yesterday emailed me about the status. I told you 3 to 5 days and now you are making up your own deadlines.
I am glad we did not start any project. I thank God for that. One thing I despise is dishonesty and Ego. I have never worked for money, thats why I left USA to be my own man.
I think you have lot to worry about. Just check out this forums. Wow I thank God that I came to know all about you before we got started.
******************************************
In short, Big Mike is the biggest “cheat” on this earth. Everything about his revolves around ripping other off. None of their products actually work. Anyways Karma is a bitch, he will soon be put to his place.
I am still amazed that Jay even started talking to me again after how he was treated, both by me and by Mike. It was deplorable and I am very blessed to have Jay as my programmer. We are working on some very big things, and I’ll let everyone know about them as they are developed!

    Hi Jay,

Sad to hear, even though you contacted me about your story previously Jay. Glad to see you bringing this to light. I linked here from my blog post on Big Mike ripping me off as well to help build some awareness.

    To your success,
    Chris Elliott

Wow. Just when I thought this issue couldn’t get worse and my already stellar opinion of him couldn’t get any worse, I read this. What a totally unprofessional response. “I’m Big Ego and I can wipe you off the earth because I’ve managed multimillion dollar projects for every large company in the US!” Bullshit. I’ve worked for huge corporations and that kind of attitude would get him kicked out on his Big Ego faster than you can say Incan’tsoft.

Businesses have to do one of two things: Adapt, or die. It is this kind of stubborn behavior that will cause the latter for his company, which at one time I highly respected.

Thank you Lisa and Jay for bringing more light to this issue.

    Hi Lisa & Jay

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I purchased some software from them (Icansoft) but could not get it to work and thought it was me being stupid.

I also read Chris Elliotts post and you can see what type of company they are and I will never buy another product from them!

    Good luck Jay & Lisa

    Cheers

    Mike

I have worked for people like ‘Big Mike’ and have to say, Jay you are well shot of him. I respect your honesty and the fact that you can forgive and forget and resume with Lisa who I am sure was led astray by Big Ego. Good to know there are some honourable people in this business.
